Intellectual Property

Cytomatrix has a long history of innovation and the generation of intellectual property.

Cytomatrix has a royalty free world-wide license to the two polymer patents.

International Patent Application Number PCT/AU2012/001273, Fibre-forming process and fibres produced by the process.  The application was filed on 18 October 2011 and will have validity until 18 October 2031.  The applicant was Cytomatrix with the inventors nominated as Alessandra Sutti, Tong Lin and Mark Kirkland.  It has been granted in Australia, the US and in Europe through the European Patent Office (“EPO”).

The application describes the process for the preparation of the fibres by injecting a fibre-forming liquid into a dispersion medium of defined viscosity and fragmentation of the filament by shear force to produce short fibres.  Suitable water soluble polymers are identified in the claims.

PCT/AU2014/000204, An apparatus for producing nano-bodies, was filed on 5 March 2014.  The applicant is HeiQ Pty Ltd and inventors: Alessandra Sutti, Mark Kirkland, Paul Collins and Ross George.  It has granted in Australia, EPO and USA.

This application is more specific for the type of apparatus used for producing the SPF through the injection of a body-forming fluid into a dispersion medium.  The apparatus includes: a fluid housing configured to retain a dispersion medium; at least two separated flow paths along which the dispersion medium flows in a laminar flow, at least two of the separated flow paths converging at a flow-merge location; at least one fluid introduction arrangement located at or proximate the flow-merge location configured, in use, to feed the body-forming fluid into the dispersion medium; and a flow constriction arrangement proximate to or following the flow-merge location, which in use, constricts and accelerates the dispersion medium flow proximate to and/or following the flow-merge location.

PCT/AU2019/901112, A composition for the delivery of biologically active agents and uses thereof, was filed on 2 April 2019 by Cytomatrix with inventors: Mark Kirkland, Christina Kirkland, Julie Sharp, Alessandra Sutti and Guy Moeneclaey.

The invention relates generally to a composition for the delivery of a biologically active agent. In particular, the present invention relates to a composition comprising short biocompatible polymer fibres for the rapid and sustained delivery of one or more biologically active agent, and to uses thereof.

In addition, Cytomatrix has developed and continues to develop use for Short Polymer fibres in a number of new applications.
